Council Member Ted R. Green  - Third Ward

Councilman Theodore “Ted” R. Green was sworn into office representing the Third Ward in 2006, re-elected in 2009 and on November 5, 2013 was re-elected to a third term. He has chaired the Business Development and Zoning Committee and served as a member of the Finance Committee and the Health and Education Committee.

Under Mayor Robert L. Bowser, Councilman Green was appointed as the Mayor’s representative on the East Orange Housing Authority. He currently serves as a Contracts and Compliance Specialist with Newark’s Brick City Development Corporation. An accomplished professional with two decades in the field of property maintenance and housing revitalization, Councilman Green served as the Assistant Manager for the Newark Office of Affirmative Action; Assistant Director, for the Township of Irvington’s Department of Housing; and Housing Loan Advisor and Assistant Compliance Officer for the City of East Orange. Councilman Green earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Sociology from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.

He is a Third Ward District Leader with the East Orange Democratic Municipal County Committee and has been active in his Wards’ block associations. In 1990, he founded the Green’s School of Martial Arts and was a volunteer instructor for the East Orange School District’s Black Male Institute and the Rites of Passage Youth Program. In 2003, he established a free lawn care and snow removal program for Third Ward senior citizens.
